East Wind Summer Update: 2018

East Wind enjoyed its fourth season in Traverse City, MI, this summer at the 2018 Great Lakes Equestrian Festival and also spent three weeks in Lexington, KY. There were numerous highlights, including more GLEF Circuit Champions!


  • Tiffany Morrissey piloted Nancy Batchelor's Louis to the Circuit Championship in the Baby Green Hunters.

  • Lisa Berger defended her Circuit Championship title with her own Chloe in the Low Adult Hunters. This pair also earned the Reserve Circuit Championship in the Low Adult Equitation.

  • Maggie Gould rode Christy Powell's Karoleena to the Reserve Circuit Championship in the Great Lakes Low Hunter division.

  • Gould and Noa Diener combined to receive Reserve Circuit Championship honors aboard Linden in the GLEF Open Hunter 3' division.



There were also many weekly Champions:


  • Nancy Batchelor's Louis & Tiffany Morrissey: Champion, Baby Green Hunter, GLEF 1

  • Alexandra Raffy's Masterpiece & Maggie Gould: Champion, Great Lakes Low Hunter 2'3", GLEF 2

  • Hailey Berger & Lex: Champion, Children's Hunter 15-17, GLEF 2

  • Claudia Millstone & Ballendro: Champion, Adult Equitation, GLEF 4

  • Morgan Rosia & Pointe Milou: Champion, Junior Hunter 3'3", GLEF 4

  • Noa Diener & Linden: Champion, Children's Hunter, 15-17, GLEF 5

  • Christy Powell's Karoleena & Maggie Gould: Champion, Great Lakes , GLEF 6



Mattelyn Morrissey and Emma Rincon also made their Leadline debuts, each receiving perfect scores!





In Kentucky, there were more Champions:


  • Susannah Rose & Baron Z: Champion, Intermediate Adult Hunter, Country Heir I

  • Stacey Shore Werner's Sebastian & Tiffany Morrissey: Champion, Non-Thoroughbred Hunter, Country Heir I

  • Tiffany Morrissey and Hannes also competed successfully at the USHJA Green Hunter Incentive Finals.





Tickets punched:

East Wind riders also used the summer to qualify for the fall's indoor championships. Five East Wind riders will be headed to the Finals this fall:

  • Noa Diener: NCEA Junior Medal Finals, USHJA 3'3" Jumping Seat Medal Final, National Horse Show Equitation Championship 3'3" 

  • Brooke Giacin: NCEA Junior Medal Finals, USHJA 3'3" Jumping Seat Medal Final

  • Claudia Millstone: Ariat National Medal Final

  • Morgan Rosia: ASPCA Maclay Region 3 Finals

  • Catie Staszak: Ariat National Medal Final
