It's what we work toward all year: East Wind hit the road again for the fall indoor finals at the ASPCA Maclay Region 4 Championship, the Capital Challenge Horse Show, and the USEF Medal Final at the Pennsylvania National.
Three East Wind riders qualified for year-end championships as a result of their consistently stellar performances throughout the year—junior equitation rider Brooke Giacin and adult equitation riders Claudia Millstone and Catie Staszak.
It was a season of "firsts." Brooke Giacin was the first East Wind rider put to the test, competing in her very first ASPCA Maclay Regional Championship in Lexington, KY. The junior equitation rider and her own Shannaghmore made the flat phase against a competitive field of 90 riders.
All three East Wind finalists congregated at the Capital Challenge Horse Show in Upper Marlboro, MD, and all three came away with ribbons.
Brooke Giacin and Shannaghmore finished 5th in the THIS Children's Medal Warm-Up. Brooke also turned in her best performance to date in the THIS Medal Final after qualifying among the top 10 in the nation.
Claudia Millstone and Jefferson finished 10th in the North American Adult Equitation Championships. It was Claudia's first time competing at indoors.
Catie Staszak and Agnes Augusta earned 8th place honors in the Ariat National Adult Medal Final after qualifying among the country's top 15 riders. They also finished 5th in the Adult Equitation.
Brooke Giacin then continued on to Harrisburg, where she contested the Dover Saddlery/USEF Medal Final against nearly 300 of the country's top junior equitation riders. She and Shannaghmore tackled the track admirably in their debut in the class.
East Wind proudly returns home for Wellington's fall show series, where we will prepare for the winter circuit!
